About Social Security Risks of the Third Republic

Summary/Abstract: In the article attempts to describe and characteristics of selected contemporary Polish security risks of non-military. For this purpose, the article presents mutual relationships and dependencies between conceptual categories: security – national security – social security. The author has also made a review of selected social problems which included: — progressive aging of the population, — emigrating Poles — low level of social activity, — the phenomenon of social pathology, and in particular the scope and structure of unemployment, homelessness, poverty, crime, prostitution, drug addiction and alcoholism. In the face of the political, social or technological changes, which intensified at the end of the twentieth century, today assumed – that the phenomenon of non-military and their consequences have become more of a threat to the security of humanity than the threat of open conflict. These social issues were treated as potential threats.
