Summary/Abstract: To mark the publication of "Srednjovjekovni gradovi u Bosni i Hercegovini" a quarter of a century after the death of its author, academician Husref Redžić, this paper provides a brief overview of the significance of his teaching, research and architectural work. His legacy is a work of enduring value for the study of the history of architecture in general and of mediaeval, especially Islamic, architecture in particular, and is a fundamental contribution to the modern theory and practice of the protection and revitalization of the built heritage. This is not only a book about architecture, but a new facet of the cultural and historical identity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
