Summary/Abstract: The Commemoration of the Composer Ion Vidu at 80 Years since the Passing into Eternity. I. The Composer's Life. The year 2011, marks the commemoration of eighty years since the composer Ion Vidu passed away. Having been a prominent personality of culture in Banat at the end of the nineteenth century and beginning of the twentieth, Ion Vidu had a major contribution in the musical field as well as in supporting the national cause of romanians in Banat, wich were at that time under austro – hungarian occupation. This article is the first out of a series of studies wich are dedicatied to this occasion and it sets out to display Ion Vidu’s life in terms of relevant biographical elements.
