Summary/Abstract: The Episode of Jesus’s Birth Emphasized in the Old Testament Prophecies. The Prophetic Dimension of Incarnation. The Episode of Saviour’s birth presented in the first two chapters of the Gospel of Matthew contains five prophecies taken from the Old Testament. What is the purpose of these prophecies? By using them, the Evangelist Matthew underlines the fact the expected Mesia by Jewish people has been born and in this way all the mesianic prophecies of the Old Testament have been accomplished. This Mesia is the born Child by Virgin Maria, in Bethleem. This article analyses mesianic prophecies used by the Evangelist Matthew in the 2nd chapter of his Gospel (2: 6, 15, 18, 23). On the one hand, I analyse the way in that the Evangelist Matthew has adapted and integrated these prophecies in the Episode of Saviour’s birth, and on the other hand the role of geographical elements existing in each prophecy.
