Summary/Abstract: The article looks into the role of state and municipal authorities in cases associated with the establishment of origin of a child. The study aims to reveal imperfections in the regulatory framework in cases, where the procedural arrangements set out in the substantive legal norms take the upper hand over the rights of a child to protection of their personal identity, preventing the responsible state and municipal authorities from acting in a way best possible/most appropriate to the child’s rights and interests. The question obtains a relevant and practical meaning, when the defined child paternity obviously comes into conflict with the biological and social realities, violates the child’s rights to an identity and a stable family environment set out in the normative acts. The theoretical and practical significance of the research is connected to the possibilities to update the legal regulations with respect to the issues raised.
