Summary/Abstract: The article analyses the conception of poverty and the problem of welfare on the basis of anthropological field research done in Cambodia, PO village. Poverty and its topic is a relevant theme of classical economical and political anthropology. What is more, poverty is not only a relevant and sensitive societal phenomenon in the world, but also it is closely related to anthropological problems and topics. Moreover it is like the main theme, where people identify themselves. The concepts of the welfare state, culture of poverty, social class, big man and others are also included and discussed in the article.
