Summary/Abstract: Gorenje was once a small village smithy that also manufactured fruit grinders. It then employed 11 workers. Today it is Yugoslavia’s biggest manufacturer of household appliances and employs a staff of 9,891. The vocational composition of the labour force improves steadily from year to year. Last academic year Gorenje provided scholarships for the training of 75 students and 184 secondary vocational school pupils.
