Summary/Abstract: The amendments to the Federal Constitution passed in June 1971 provided for the formation of a Presidency of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (hereafter called “Presidency”) as a new federal agency. The formation of the Presidency of Yugoslavia was a logical consequence of changes in the organization and functions of the Federation and the resulting need to ensure the republics and autonomous provinces a more adequate position and greater responsibility in the performance of federal functions.
