Summary/Abstract: Human capital is understood as knowledge, skills, abilities, work experience and is included in thesociety. It is at the same time, a factor of competitiveness and satisfaction, is the determinant for the developmentof a knowledge-based economy. So let’s evaluate it using the factors of economic growth and the levelof socio-economic development. In this publication there are used five most valuable indicators relating topotential socio-economic Polish macro-regions. As a result, the carried out analysis found out that developmentsrelating to characteristics of Polish regions in the past dozen years have been analogous to the regionsof the European Union. When it comes to summary results for all European regions in terms of value, boththe arithmetic mean and geometric, during the period and for all indicators, Polish regions were in the secondquartile. Poland turned out to be a well developing country.
