Summary/Abstract: Depression is increasingly commonly referred as " Plague of the 21st century" in the scientific circles. The problem of depressive syndrome is too neglected and can cause dire consequences. Namely, due to the fact that the criminal behavior and the risk of perpetration of a criminal offense in people suffering from depressive syndrome are complex (defined on the one hand by psychosocial factors, on the other hand, the factors of depression), it is necessary to distinguish these two factors for a proper assessment the share of the disease itself in criminal behavior and the risk of perpetrating a criminal offense of a person suffering from depression. The aim of this paper is to point to the problem of depression as an essential factor in the perpetration of criminal offenses.
