From the Margins to the Centre: Encyklopedia gender [The Gender Encyclopaedia], Other New Contributions and the Shift in Gender Studies

Summary/Abstract: This article discusses four recent publications in the context of the shift in gender studies from the margins to the centre. These publications are Teorie wywrotowe [Subversive Theories: An Anthology of Translations], ed. by A. Gajewska (2012), Antropologia seksualności [Anthropology of Sexuality], ed. by A. Kościańska (2012), the three-volume Historii ciała [History of the Body], ed. by A. Corbin, G. Vigarello and J. Courtine, and Encyklopedia gender [The Gender Encyclopaedia], ed. by M. Rudaś-Grodzkiej et al. (2014). This phenomenon manifests itself in the systematization of non-systemic knowledge; bibliographies are brought up to date and the interdisciplinary status of gender studies is consolidated while its historiographical background is highlighted. Górecki how all these books – and in particular Encyklopedia gender [The Gender Encyclopaedia] – exemplify this phenomenon.
