Summary/Abstract: The paper compares valency characteristics of Czech deverbal nouns representing five semantic classes, namely: Communication, Exchange, Contact, Mental action and Psychological nouns, included in a valency lexicon called NomVallex. The comparative analysis is based on data extracted from Czech corpora, and consists of two stages. Firstly, instances of non-systemic valency behaviour (non-systemic forms of adnominal participants and reduction of the number of valency slots) are depicted. Secondly, a quantitative analysis focusing on relative frequencies of combinations of participants and their forms is provided. The comparison leads to indicating both the common and the distinguishing valency properties of the semantic classes in question, including differentiation of the central and peripheral phenomena.
