Summary/Abstract: Jonas Maldžiūnas was born in Kaunas in 1956. He studied design in Vilnius Insititute of Fine Arts and painting in Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts. From 1986 he taught painting in Stepas Žukas higher school in Kaunas; from 1994 till 1995 – fine arts in Kriūkai secondary school; from 1995 till 2009 – graphic arts and ceramics in Šakiai Fine Arts School. In 2009, he opened his own private school of painting, composition and drawing. In 1983, Maldžiūnas exhibited his art works for the first time. Later he held personal and collective exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. In 1996 he got the Grant of Pollock-Krasner Foundation for traineeship in New-York. In 2000, he was invited to take part in the artists’s forum held in the Netherlands. There he represented Lithuania. Maldžiūnas is known as a talented teacher and author of scandalous performances such as the action agains violence – Hallows (1996), against fear and evil – Electric Chair (2013), etc.
