Summary/Abstract: Yugoslavia recognizes the existing gap between the developing and industrially highly developed countries as one of mankind’s most serious modern problems. Speaking, in 1963, in the United Nations General Assembly, President Tito pointed out that assistance to the developing countries was in the interests of the developed ones, since they could not make any dynamic progress if the markets of the countries making up the majority of mankind were not financially able to buy their products. Because of this Yugoslavia is not only a staunch advocate of the removal of artificial barriers hindering world commerce and of broader cooperation among the underdeveloped countries, but also pleads for greater technical assistance, both through the United Nations and through an increase in contributions by the developed countries.
