Summary/Abstract: Care for women’s health, and especially maternity care are among the most important branches of the health service. They include facilities for women during the whole period of pregnancy and confinement (about 400,000 women a year) and health care for all women of child-bearing age, i. e. between the ages of 15 and 49 years (one fourth of Yugoslavia’s total population).
