Summary/Abstract: Yugoslavia maintains friendly political, economic and cultural relations with Belgium and there is developed cooperation between the two countries’ sociopolitical organizations. The salient feature of these relations is the steady expansion of cooperation, mutual efforts for its further promotion, and a similarity of views on many important international issues. Diplomatic relations between Yugoslavia and Belgium were established immediately after the Second World War. In August 1945, a Yugoslav envoy was sent to Belgium, and a Belgian envoy to Yugoslavia was appointed in September of the same year. The legations in Brussels and Belgrade were raised to the rank of embassy in 1955. Economic cooperation has reached a high level of development even though possibilities offered by the economies of the two countries have not yet been fully used.
