Summary/Abstract: Throughout the period 1964—1967 health service expenditure increased steadily1, although its rate of growth declined continually, amounting in 1965 to 33 per cent, to fall in 1966 to 24 per cent and in 1967 to only 4 per cent. These expenditure trends in 1966, and especially in 1967, were to a large extent the result of the Social and Economic Reform, one of the principal targets of which is to curb government expenditure and adjust it to real potentialities.
