Summary/Abstract: This is the last of a series of three articles that is dedicated to surveying the research on the creative society carried out in Lithuania. It discusses the main features and inner contradictions of the interrelated conceptions of the creative class and the creative city. This last article argues that the leading of society to a utopian tomorrow by the creative class just raises again the familiar problems that arose from Marxism leading the working class to another bright tomorrow. Is this not but another expression of elitism? An inherent dialectic is essential to the interrelated principles of meritocracy, individuality, differentness, openness, which derive the creative class. A kindred dialectic between rational planning and vital creativity is also inherent to the conception and development of the creative city.
