Summary/Abstract: Throughout the entire post-war period, with the exception of 1951 and 1952, Yugoslav industry has been steadily expanding, so that by 1962 output exceeded the 1939 level 5.2 times. In the early years after the war this rise was chiefly a result of the better utilization of plant in old factories that had been reconstructed. Later, particularly since 1952, this rise in industrial output has been increasingly accounted for by the construction and commissioning of new industrial projects. Investments in industrial schemes have yielded results reflected in terms of increased production. In addition, the composition of industry has also changed: post-war investment activity has been mainly directed towards the construction of power, metallurgical, machine building and chemical projects, while during the last few years considerable resources have been appropriated for the construction and modernization of the manufacturing industries. This has led to a considerable rise in industrial output over the pre-war level.
