Summary/Abstract: The article suggests and briefly evaluates a qualitatively new interpretation of China’s behaviour in the present-day international area. The article claims that China’s governing elite has recently elaborated and launched a complex and effective alternative to the U.S.-led model of economic globalization and development. This alternative’s common denominator is an infrastructure that is rapidly becoming the foundation of China’s domestic security and economic growth as well as its projection of influence abroad. The analysis of the main motives hidden behind this development model leads to the article’s main conclusion: precisely infrastructure is creating the fundamental prerequisites for China’s super-power ambitions to truly succeed in the 21st century.
