Summary/Abstract: The problem of carrying out digitalization in archives emerges with inconsistent adherence to the standards in each phase of the process. In addition, there is the fact that standard software packages have high prices and that they are, due to their complexity, more appropriate for IT specialists than for archivists. The focus of the paper is the consideration of the possibility to apply open source package Archivamatica to the processes of digitalization, managing and using digitalized contents in the archives. Archivamatica is free software package, based on international standards, adapted to be used by professional archivists, so it has a great potential to make experts’ work in the archives considerably faster.
