Summary/Abstract: The International Council on Archives is a worldwide umbrella organization devoted to the development and promotion of archives and archival science in all their areas of activity. The paper presents the organization and operation of the International Council on Archives and provides an overview of its current activities and strategic goals: repossession of archives, monitoring of influence and opportunities of new technologies and strengthening of archival skills, and their impact on the state and development of archival activity in the world.
