Summary/Abstract: At the age of 17, Malala Yousafzai is awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace, an event that unleashed enthusiasm and revolt, appraisal and sheer hatred, support and blame. I am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban is the book Malala Yousafzai co-wrote with journalist Christina Lamb, triggering the same antagonistic reactions, East and West. The aim of this research paper is to cluster the most vocal attitudes, identify their ideological, political and cultural motivations and therefore position the Malala phenomenon against a balanced perceptive background. As with the case of the Rushdie affair, Malala has become one of the most controversial disputes at the international level oriented on the West-East discrepancies of perception and reaction.
