The impact of the crisis on consumer behavior in luxury goods market

Summary/Abstract: In her article, the author undertook an attempt to state, to what degree the present economic crisis had affected the level of consumption and consumers’ behaviour in the market for luxury goods. She presented various theories relating to impact of economic crises on the market for luxury goods. For the purposes of article, there was carried out an empirical research, which demonstrated that in Poland consumption of luxury goods did not note any significant decline and it still was conspicuous consumption. Even if consumption of luxury goods of high value (e.g. cars) declined, then grew consumption of luxury goods of a relatively lower value (e.g. cosmetics, food products, etc.).
