Summary/Abstract: This article explores the theoretical implications of Blanchot’s final narrative, L’instant de ma mort, in the light of Derrida’s Demeure. The text problematises the reading of L’instant de ma mort as a testimony, pointing towards the tensions between the subject, text and death, both from narratological and ethical point of view. These problems are examined with emphasis on the aporias ensuing from the use of text (signature, autobiography, testimony, proper name) as an index of extratextual singularity.
