Glitch Art – Art of Residues, Distortions and Spectra

Summary/Abstract: The author claims that modern culture has deviated away from the desire of impeccability and lost its interest in what is infallible. He attempts to answer the question why the distortions and flaws occupy a central position in the world of recent art and wants to analyse their role in shaping the image of modern reality. He finds the answers to these questions in late philosophy of Jacques Derrida, research under glitch studies (Rosa Menkman, Michael Betancourt) as well as the works of two contemporary visual artists: Andy Denzler and David Szauder.
