Summary/Abstract: The Hague Convention of 30 June 2005 on Choice of Court agreements entered into force on 1 October 2015 between the European Union (EU) and Mexico. The Convention was previously signed by the United States of America (USA, US) (19 January 2009) and Singapore (25 March 2015), and subsequently by Ukraine (21 March 2016)18. Its purpose is to ensure the effectiveness of international commercial choice of court agreements. It aims at filling the governance gap that, in the absence of a uniform global legal regime, currently exists concerning the effect of choice of court agreements and the recognition and enforcement of judgments based on such agreements.
