Summary/Abstract: The object of study in this article are the elements of the funeral rite and the inventory of mound No.2, burial ground Brusiany VII in Samara Bend. Analysis of analogies helps to clarify their chronological position and to determine the region of their origin. The greatest number of matches is concentrated, on the one hand, in barrows of “Sokolov” type Volgo-Don and North-Azov steppes and, on the other, in Saltovo-Maiaki culture burials in Donetsregion. The man, who buried in the mound, obviously belonged to the military-administrative elite of the Khazar khaganate period late VIII – early IX centuries.
