Summary/Abstract: In terms of its geographical location, Kars has cradled many civilizations, states and nations. In addition to these, Kars has also hosted a large number of renowned personalities. One of them is Korkut Ata, a semi-legendary poet known as Dede Korkut. Dede Korkut, in his stories, summarized the traditions and customs of the Oguz Turks. Because of his stories wandering from language to language, he is regarded as one of the oldest Turkish storytellers who reached up to the present day. Dede Korkut has an important place in our history and Kars is one of the places where he was connected. The aim of this study is to reveal the necessity of giving the name of Dede Korkut to the Education Faculty of Kafkas University, Located in Kars. In this context, after a brief emphasis on the importance of Kars for Dede Korkut and Dede Korkut for Kars and Kars’ region, the answer was sought for the question of “Why should the name of Dede Korkut be given to the Faculty of Education Located in Kars?ˮ
