Summary/Abstract: The last forty years of this century have witnessed a transformation in the area of education of children with special needs in the West. The main characteristic of this transformation is that the system of education for those children has become more flexible through eliminating many differences between special and regular educational systems. The tendency is that the special system becomes, wherever objectively possible, unique with the regular educational system. These changes are in agreement with the widespread societal efforts to try and integrate individuals with special needs into regular educational system. This integration in B-H is not yet officially adopted and has occurred only sporadically, but intensive preparation is underway to introduce unique educational system for all children, so that we can expect important changes in the educational subsystem for children with special needs.
