Summary/Abstract: This article will analyze how young people from Turkey and the World prioritize the environment according to World Values Survey; how the environmental education finds place in formal education; the ways young people participate in environmental politics based on the research “Forms of Political Participation Among Turkish Youth” counducted by TÜSES and lastly we will scrutinize the factors predicting environmental behaviors of twelfth grade students in Istanbul. We will argue that poverty and education outweigh environmental problems among Turkish youth; environmental education is becoming widespread both in curriculum and extracurricular activity. Moreover, we will claim that although young people are knowledgeable and aware of environmental problems they are reluctant to engage in pro-environmental behavior and they are more likely to be active in environmental civil society organizations rather political parties.
