Summary/Abstract: Although three fourths of Kurds living in the Middle East is Sunni-Muslim it is possible to say that the remained population of Kurds displays an important diversity in terms of religious and denominational faith. Faylis is one of the Kurdish faith based ethnic community from antique ages until now living on Zagros Mountain foots composing the border of Iraq and Iran, has been known by its Shiite identity. What has been making the Faylis an important actor in socio-political life of the Middle East is their both denominational and ethnic identities and their political choices and positions in modern history of Iraq and Iran. In this study, cultural, social and political structure of Faylis, one of the silent victims of the Middle East, is analyzed. Hence, the community’s role in the modern history of Iraq and Iran will be scrutinized. The study proposes important clues about how religious and the denominational faith effect political choices, strategies and social positions within Kurds in the Middle East.
