Summary/Abstract: More than a billion people live with some sort of handicap in the world. Almost two hundred thousand of these people have remarkable difficulties in maintaining their lives. The issue of the handicapped will be a more concerning topic in the years to come, for it tends to increase. In addititon to the aging populations and the possibility of their becoming handicapped, diabetes, heart and coronary diseases, and some chronic illnesses such as cancer and mental disorders are on the increase and so become major factors in the high level of handicaps. Worldwide, compared with those not handicapped, the handicapped have worse health care facilities, lower educational success and economic participation, and higher levels of economic deprivation. The fact that the handicapped confront barriers on access to such facilities as health care, education, employment, transportation and knowledge may partly explain the differences between the two groups. These problems are more devastating in less advantaged societies. (World Report on the Handicapped) There are always handicapped individuals in societies.
