Summary/Abstract: This paper considers the Irish Catholic identity in Northern Ireland as a religious nationalism case in which religion and nationalism intertwine.. Secondly, the social structure of Northern Ireland will be handled in the framework of religious nationalism by especially highlighting the historical process of identification of Irishness with Catholicism and the continuity of this identification today.
