Summary/Abstract: Cultural assets include those cultural values that deserve to be preserved, as well as the natural heritage that has excellent beauty. No matter if cultural properties are tangible or intangible, they are the foundation of the national culture. We all have to work to protect the historic heritage and its environment, to prevent its destruction, because when a cultural heritage is one damaged, it could never be restored to its original state. In order to preserve the total legacy, work on collecting, keeping and protection, research, education, speech and presentation, promotion of cultural property must be continued. There are many institutions that take care of the protection of cultural heritage, on the national, also on international, or global level. Besides to these institutions, there are cultural institutions which themselves do not represent a cultural heritage, but also with presentation of certain embodiments of arts and culture, participate in their presentation. Such institutions are libraries, museums and archives that collect, preserve and given to the use of cultural goods and expose the artistic-historical works and archives. The purpose of this paper is to highlight these cultural institutions, with special emphasis on libraries, as institutions of importance for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
