Summary/Abstract: There is a wide variety of pension schemes in Europe that are partially managed publicly and since 2001 are subject to the Open Method of Coordination (OMC), which aims to the following goals: the joint establishment of objectives, the construction of social indicators, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the objectives, i.e. the efficiency of the pension systems. The paper presents the results of the pension systems effectiveness’ analyses based on the synthetic measure proposed by the author and discusses the results of the classification for the pension schemes. Essential importance in the statistical analysis will have the data from: the EU-Statistics on Income and Living Conditions, EU-SILC and the data from: the European System of Integrated Social Protection Statistics, ESSPROS.
