Summary/Abstract: This article describes the analysis of local proper nouns in rural region of the south-western part of the Czech Republic. The centre of interest is small village Horšice. The main purpose of the authoress was comparing local orally transferred names and written sources of last two centuries. The combination of oral and written sources was very useful for identification of some places in the village and the area around it. It was also useful for the reconstruction of some “forgotten stories” associated with the names of those places. The future interest of the authoress is popularization of the local proper nouns in the mentioned region. The aim is their returning into the contemporary communication.
