Summary/Abstract: The present article aims to evaluate the role of the Vécsey family in Szatmár which can be treated as the second most prestigious family in the said county. Furthermore, the article focuses on the political views, party preferences, life strategies of the family members bonded to the Habsburgs and the economic activities carried out in the manor of Sárköz located 10 kilometers from Szatmárnémeti.
