Summary/Abstract: A chapter of Guy Standing's book „Basic Income: And How Can We Make It Happen”. The author analyses several policies aimed at dealing with economic crises, inequality and poverty: minimum wage, contributory social insurance, means-tested social assistance, subsidized food, tax credits, workfare and job guarantee. He evaluates those policies with regard to social justice principles and compares them with basic income.
