Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of the article is to pay attention to the new trends in the consumption process. They show the important role of the consumer in development processes, especially the connection with many contemporary social, economic, and ecological problems. Based on the review of the world literature, the authors present the main trends in consumption. The most important are those that change consumer perception of the expected value. The results of these analysis could be used for business strategy improvement.
