Summary/Abstract: This contribution aims to uncover the world of one of the regional theatres and its functionaries through personal testimonies of the witnesses by their (self)reflection. The first part is focused on the South Bohemian Theatre as a whole. It especially gives presentation of what kind of ambitions and conditions is this regional theatre active with in the cultural field. The theatre and its functionaries are presented in the second part through the eyes of the spectators and the „other“ people from the theatre. Is the perception positive or negative? Does the public realise the need for culture and its influence on everyday life? Does the public realise how demanding the profession of an actor/actress is? In the third part, the actors themselves and other people from the theatre express their views and help to reconstruct their artistic world, their own reflection, and the profession in general. The thesis also engages with questions whether there is a difference between being an actor in a regional theatre and a Prague theatre, and whether there were any big changes in the theatrical world after the year 1989.
