Summary/Abstract: The study identifies main characteristics of cohabitations by analyzing population and housing census from 2011. The results of the analysis confirmed existing differences in the structure and intensity of formation of cohabitations, depending on marital status, educational attainment, ethnicity, religion, place of residence, present and the number of births. Unmarried cohabitations in Slovakia are heterogeneous forms of partnerships and we can find them in different periods of life paths of individuals.
