Summary/Abstract: The need for organising social care for children, including summer holiday camps, was noticed among educational society. However, due to being unable to cover holiday camp expenses, the educational society took the initiative to create a way for children to spend summer holidays in the natural environment. In Lviv, an association called The United Committee – “Children visit the countryside” came to life. In May 1918, The United Committee sent proclamation words entitled “Children visit the countryside”, which explained extensively the necessity to provide children and teenagers with ways to spend summer vacation. It also issued an appeal to families to take care of at least one child during holidays in the time when organising summer holiday camps constitutes huge obstacles. The “Children visit the countryside” campaign received positive response. A great number of people that came from different circles offered shelter to children. Consequently, it increased the number of children that could benefit from summer vacation.
