Summary/Abstract: The author deals with elections and electoral systems issues in his study. He analyses the principles of suffrage in terms of democratic society. The main attention is worked on the types of electoral systems – majority, proportional, mixed. The author illustrates their particular variations in concrete examples. He also points out positives and negatives of three standard types of electoral systems. In conclusion, he deals with the motivation of voters to participate in the election.
