Summary/Abstract: The article presents the development of The Male High School in Ostrów Wielkopolski in the years 1918–1939. In the history of the school the interwar period was particularly important. Liberated from the Prussian authority school commenced thorough reorganization. The changes were introduced gradually. There was introduced English as a language of instruction. Teaching posts were occupied exclusively by Poles. Simultaneusly, there were carried renovations of the building. The article depicts the profiles of prominent headmasters, teachers and students. It describes the activities of students’ organizations, library and reading lounge. In addition, the article points to the merits of Parental Committee. The purpose of the article is to present the contribution of the school to Ostrów and all Wielkopolska in the Second Republic of Poland.
