Religion in the North of the Black Sea in the Middle Age

Summary/Abstract: There was Buddhism and Christianity in the opposite of Islam among the Turks in this period. Various tribes such as Kipchak, Pechenek, Mongol, Russian, Khazar were settled in the North of the Black Sea, other than Muslim cultures. They were influenced by other beliefs such as Christianity, Buddhism and paganism. Therefore, along with the efficiency of Christianity in the North of the Black Sea after the pagan beliefs of these tribes; The Christian church played an important role in medieval Russia as it did in the medieval western world upon the spiritual life of the nations. So, after the victory of Islam in the Golden Horde State, there was little reason for a direct Mongol influence on the religious area in Russia. But the Mongol conquest indirectly affected the development of the Russian church and its spiritual life in various forms. Therefore, the city of Kiev, which is the metropolitan office of the Russian church, was destroyed and could not serve. Actually, in this study, we tried to examine the influences of the religious beliefs that emerged in the Middle ages on the north of the Black Sea or that existed in that region on the persons or states and the social reflections of these effects.
