Summary/Abstract: In the paper, the phenomenon of consumer’s mission in the face of new emerging challenges of the modern world was analysed. The paper presents the difficulties and dilemmas associated with this phenomenon. The changes in the consumer’s environment were identified in terms of opportunities and threats, as well as strengths and weaknesses of consumer were described. Finally, a new role of the consumer was presented in facing the challenges of sustainable consumption.
