Jewish Education in Tomaszów Mazowiecki (1869–1914)

Summary/Abstract: The author presents the fate of Jewish education in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, starting in 1869, by the turn of the XIX and XX century, until the outbreak of World War I. It turns out that the Jews of Tomaszów they were prosperous and vibrant acting in the field of socio-economic community and one of the manifestations of their activity was the organization of education. Article is based on unknown documents documents stored in the State Archives in Tomaszów Mazowiecki and the State Archive in Lodz. Additionally, the author came to valuable sources in Yiddish, primarily Di geszichte fun di jidn in Tomaszow [History of the Jews in Tomaszów].
