Summary/Abstract: This historical reconstruction is essentially based on Winston Churchill's memoirs. Of the four volumes published so far, of 3154 pages, three have already appeared in German. The publisher of the German-language edition is Alfred Scherz, Bern; for Germany the Parnass Verlag Scherz & Goverts, Stuttgart. All citations of this essay are from Churchill's recollections, unless expressly stated otherwise. On the sub-ject, we also refer to George Fischer's essay "Roosevelt and Stalin" from "Der Monat", issue 21.
