Summary/Abstract: George F. Kennan is researching the way, how the American diplomatic comunity in St. Petersburg and especially how Ambassador Francis was daling with the revolutionary events in this city in 1917/1918. American dplomacy has been embedded in the wider context of World-War I after the Unites States had entered into the war, and the objectives pursued by the United States in the War. Kennan's research has a special focus on President WIlson's "14 points" statement from January 1918.
